What Does Psychic Mean?

waves at sunset

Meditation provides a way to get in touch with yourself and your own information.

If you talk to different people about any topic, you will get a variety of opinions. I have found this with any subject I research. This can make it difficult when you really, really, really want an answer! I always suggest to clients to trust their gut. If you have collected information from a variety of sources, sit with it all. Then get in touch with what rings true for you and discard the rest.

Meditation is a way to get more in touch with your own information. The type of meditation that I was blessed to learn at the ripe young age of 18 years old gave me tools. Meditative, visualization techniques to help me to get more in touch with me, my body and my own information.

Okay. So then, what does psychic mean?! To me it means, spirit or of the soul. We are all spirit. We are souls. Therefore we are all psychic. We all have the spiritual abilities to see or “read” energy, give and receive non-verbal, telepathic messages, feel energy and otherwise sense energy and have an awareness of the spiritual realm.

This was a fun day at the San Diego Humane Society. I got to hang out with some of their beautiful cats that were available for adoption. I love giving healings and readings to animals and people!

I have spent a lot of time developing my psychic muscle and reading energy, consciously telepathically communicating, giving people and animals energy healings and otherwise sensing energy. But you have these same gifts.

Think about experiences you have that validate this. Have you ever been able to tell when someone was lying to you? They were verbally saying one thing, but you knew it wasn’t true? Perhaps you thought about someone right before they called, emailed or texted you. When you first go into an office, home, restaurant or other establishment, are you aware of having a response? You may like it or not. Or like how you feel or not. These are just some examples of how we often unconsciously use our psychic or spiritual abilities in our everyday lives. It’s a fun thing to play with. The more you practice, the more consciously aware you will become of how you feel in different environments and around different people. Honor your feelings and practice being more consciously aware of when you are comfortable and uncomfortable.

As far as what being psychic means to you, I encourage you to spend time being quiet with yourself. Let go of other people’s opinions that you may have picked up throughout your life. Family, friends, religious figures, the media and other sources all have input to give that we often take on. We are all free to share our opinions. As we learn and grow, it is up to us to keep what is true for ourselves and let go of the rest. We all have our own truths. Meditation is the pathway within to find them.

Spirit

Life is about learning. Life on earth helps us souls learn, if we choose to, in a more rapid and focused manner. The most important thing I have learned in my entire lifetime is that I am spirit. You are too. We all are spirit; spiritual beings, souls. And we have bodies. We are not our bodies. They house us as spirit. We are spirit in bodies.

In actuality, I haven’t learned I’m spirit, but instead I have re-learned this fact. When we come into our physical infant bodies, we know we are spirit and a part of God. As we are surrounded with older people that have forgotten what they knew as babies, we slowly forget too. Remembering that we are spirit helps answer so many seemingly unanswerable questions. It helps us to understand why we are here on earth, which is to learn, grow and evolve. We each have a unique purpose and a reason for being here.

When our body dies, we continue to exist as spirit. We don’t become spirit when we die. We already are spirit. We just don’t have a body on anymore. Bodies are mortal. Spirit is immortal. Souls do not die. Bodies die. They are meant to wear out and be temporary homes for our spiritual learning. The form of meditation that I teach and practice helps us, as spirit to work more in harmony with our bodies. Using spiritual techniques we can reach a meditative state amidst the busyness and noisy world around us. This helps us to get to know ourselves as spirit. Meditation can help us get in touch with ourselves and our own information. It can also help us to better care for and heal our body.

I will be leading an open donation, give what you can, guided meditation in Beaverton, Oregon on Sunday, July 17 at 11:00 AM. Weather permitting, we will be sitting outside meditating in a park. Call me at 503-741-1344 or 619-797-0705 to learn more. Although it is designed for beginning meditators, all are welcome to join in the seated meditation. This is a BYOC – Bring Your Own Chair event. Hope to meditate with you Sunday or another time soon!

Ancient Mystery School Meditation

There are many forms of meditation. Enjoying nature is one of them!

There are many forms of meditation. Enjoying nature is one of them!

When I was a frustrated, depressed and very angry teenager, it was meditation that saved me. At the ripe old age of 18 years old, it was meditation that helped me to move from a place of apathy, fatigue and depression to an energetic space of optimism and enthusiasm. I began to experience life differently. I was an extremely shy, fearful child, which led to continued shyness and fear, as an insecure teen.

When I enrolled in an eight week beginning meditation class, I was nonchalant about my decision. I had absolutely no idea that that class would change my life forever. In retrospect, it was that Meditation I class that gave me hope. It got me back in touch with myself as spirit. I actually saw myself, as spirit consciously for the first time that I could remember. I had an awareness of myself and other spirits when I was a child. Although I was still aware there was something more than what I physically saw, it was difficult to access under a heavy cloak of misery.

As a spiritual being with a physical body here on Earth, I had collected pain, doubt, shame and feelings of worthlessness. So that moment in my Meditation I class is a memory that changed me and my life forever. There were only two of us students that were in the class. If you put on events or teach classes, remember that no matter how few or how many attend, you can make a difference!

Meditation has helped me and continues to help me in all aspects of my life.

Meditation has helped me and continues to help me in all aspects of my life.

I am forever grateful to all of my many teachers at the CDM Spiritual Center in Everett, Washington that I had over the years that followed that initial class. The simple, powerful, meditative, visualization techniques that they teach, and I now share too, are the foundation of all that I do. They are tools that can help you to change your mood, increase your vitality and self esteem and improve your overall well being. You CAN change your life with meditation! I did and continue to heal and grow with the help of these techniques.

People often ask what type of meditation I practice. They want a name. One of my students deemed it Sindi Meditation. Haha! While it isn’t Sindi Meditation and may not have a formal name, I have given it different labels at times. Energy Meditation, Psychic Meditation, Self Healing Meditation, Spirit Body Meditation, Body Soul Meditation, CDM Meditation and I just thought of this one: Ancient Mystery School Meditation!

Why that name? These easy to use, powerful, life changing meditation techniques are ancient! Often information categorized within the group of metaphysical teachings are labeled New Age. The techniques that I share and practice are not New Age because they are not new! They have been on the planet for a very long time, including the ancient mystery schools where Jesus studied. Yes… that Jesus!

Speaking of Jesus the Christ, if you want clearer communication with him, as well as yourself, God and other spiritual teachers, including Buddha, meditation is the way! The form of meditation that I teach and practice helps spirit and body to work more in harmony. You can more consciously create your life and manifest yourself and your unique energy using this style of meditation. For me, meditation is not about escaping or not feeling. It is about more consciously experiencing and creating your life. Whether you consider yourself spiritual and not religious, or a Christian, Buddhist, Christian Scientist, Catholic, Mormon, Hindu, Muslim,Taoist or have chosen another spiritual focus, or none at all, you can benefit from meditation. Regardless of our beliefs, we are all spirit in physical bodies. We can learn how to reduce stress, improve sleep, change habits and have more fun, by taking time for ourselves. If you do not believe in God and the spiritual realm, are Agnostic or Atheist, you don’t have to miss out!! Even physicists agree that everything is energy! If you prefer a scientific, instead of a spiritual focus, simply validate your great ability to acknowledge, release and change your energy! Everyone can do this. So why not…. go forth and meditate!

Whether as an individual or with a group, meditation can be a fun, rejuvenating activity in your life!

Whether as an individual or with a group, meditation can be a fun, rejuvenating activity in your life!

Birth and Death

waves at sunset

Life is full of change, similar to the changes that occur each time a new set of waves flow on and off the sandy shore.

Today my friend’s father died at 5:45 AM. Today also happens to be my birthday. This is the day I was born, oh so many years ago. My friend and I will always remember the date, February 26, but for different reasons.

Birth and death are both transitional experiences. With birth, the soul transitions into the body and the earth plane. In death, the soul permanently leaves its particular body and transitions back into the spiritual realm.

While we can look at physical, scientific and medical reasons why a body lives or dies, it is actually the soul that determines this difference. It is the soul and its energetic presence that gives the body life. It is the departure of this same being that creates the experience of death.

Adjusting to a new life, whether our own or an addition to our own, as with the birth of a child, takes time. Processing the occurance of death also takes time. It is important to allow our body the time to process, reflect and grieve. There are a number of emotions one might experience related to a death; grief, sadness, depression, anger, guilt.

Bodies feel. They experience pain, sadness, grief, as well as lighter emotions, such as joy.

Bodies feel. They experience pain, sadness, grief, as well as lighter emotions, such as joy.

Our reaction to each death experience may have similarities, but also differences. Depending on our relationship with the soul that has passed, the intensity of our emotional response may differ. If you are a close relative, friend or caregiver, for example. These particular roles may evoke different feelings than those of a casual acquaintance, Facebook friend or stranger. If you are both a family member and the caregiver, there will be a unique intensity all its own.

Caring for a loved one at the end of their life can be emotional, exhausting and overwhelming. Watching someone die or approach death can be stressful and painful, especially if suffering is involved. Because of these intense feelings their may be a sense of relief after they pass. This may be followed by guilt, due to judgment.

If we can allow our body its complete range of emotions without judgment, we can more easily move through the grieving process. Or any experience, for that matter. When we judge, fight, resist or deny our emotions, we can get stuck. This can interfere with us reaching a place of acceptance. It can take us longer to reach a place of peace with a death.

Saying goodbye to Ginger was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Dealing with death can be a challenge for those left living.

Saying goodbye to beautiful, loving Ginger was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Dealing with death can be a challenge for those left living. But we can do it! Allow the time and space for your healing. Be gentle and kind to yourself.

Because of my personal experiences with death and the benefit others can be to us during a time of loss, I offer help in this area. I work with both animals and people providing one on one and group grief counseling, energy healing, psychic reading and telepathic communication with the soul that has passed. Individual and group pet loss support and assistance with end of life decisions may also include guided meditation and other services.

If you or someone you know are struggling with loss, grief, pain, depression, stress, fear or anxiety related to death or any aspect of life’s many experiences, I can help! Through energy healing, psychic reading, talking and meditating, you can regain a more neutral, non-judgmental perspective of yourself, your emotions and others.

1.8.2013 – Happy New Year!

A belated Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you and yours! I hope you enjoyed the holiday season and that 2013 is off to a great start for you. I have been enjoying it so far and feel excited about starting fresh.

The first event of the new year for me will be the Blessing of the Animals Event at Old Town San Diego’s Historical Park. The event is Sunday, January 20 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. I will be giving a presentation on animal communication at the event. I am not sure yet what time my talk will be. I will also have a booth and will be offering short energy readings and animal communication session for donations benefiting the Tijuana River Valley Animal Rescue. Stop by and say hello!

You can also pick up some complimentary treats for your dog at my booth at the event. Healthy treats will be provided at the Blessing of the Animals festival, courtesy of the Point Loma Pet Pantry. I actually work at this pet supply store part time. I used to work there several years ago, as well as Paw Country. Both holistically focused, independently owned pet supply stores are now owned by the same people. I am glad to be back and find working at these pet stores to be very fulfilling. Since I see so many more people while at work there, I have even more opportunity to help more people and their pets. This makes me very happy!

To learn more about me and my services, in addition to visiting the various pages on this site, you may also wish to visit www.WildTame.com, which has additional information. You can also contact me at sindi@apetpsychic.com or 619-797-0705. And again… a very Happy New Year to you! – Pet Psychic Sindi Somers

11.13.2012 – Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots

Sometimes, in order to avoid uncomfortable emotions we may want to avoid acknowledging the aging process. Whether it is the changes in our own body or illness, pain and challenges in our loved ones; both human and animal.

Death is inevitable for the body. Souls, however live on. I personally believe in reincarnation.

Over the weekend I saw one of the most amazing stage presentations I have ever experienced. The World Premier of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. My sense is that it is most certainly Broadway bound and it will win awards. Yoshimi is phenomenal! The show demonstrates collaborative creativity at its highest level featuring stellar acting, directing, costuming and staging. It is truly an artistic, visual, technical, musical masterpiece featuring songs by The Flaming Lips. One of the lyrics that moved me, was from the song, Do You Realize??

I am including a link below that includes The Flaming Lips song lyrics for Do You Realize?? in their entirety.

LINK TO THE FLAMING LIPS SONG LYRICS, “DO YOU REALIZE??”

Just as flowers are born, grow, bloom and later wither and die, so does the body.

Basically the song’s lyrics highlight the obvious. That which us humans, so often want to ignore and deny. The fact that all of us, every single person and animal, one day will die.

When discussing or writing about this topic, I find myself even wanting to avoid using the word die or death or dying. Instead I often choose less charged phrases, such as passing, passing on, passed on, lost or having to say goodbye to.

I believe it is important to focus in the present. To enjoy our life and live it to its fullest while fulfilling our individual, unique purpose to the best of our ability. I also believe that we are souls. Immortal spirits that even when our bodies cease, we, the soul lives on. However, as long as we are physically present here on earth we have bodies. Bodies that feel and experience different temperatures, pain, grief, sadness and anger, as well as pleasure, joy and happiness.

Bodies feel. They just do.

When an animal or human that we care about dies, we that are left here on the physical plane grieve. We are sad. We miss our friend. What I have learned is that we each grieve differently. Some show no physical signs of emotion, despair or change, while others can hardly function.

I know some people whose beloved pet has died and they have yet to ever get a new companion animal over 10 years later. I also know others who have gotten another pet just days after saying goodbye to the one they lost.

Everyone is different in how they respond to death and dying. Your concepts about spirit and body and life and death may be the same, similar or completely different than mine. Although I believe the soul lives on, in regards to our experience here on earth, one thing is for sure. It may make your body sad to think this thought, but it is true. Just as The Flaming Lips sing so bluntly, everyone you know someday will die.

I encourage you to spend time with those important to you. Cherish those you love and love those you cherish. If you have lost a loved one and would like to check in and have some soul to soul communication contact me at 619-797-0705 or sindi@apetpsychic.com. Or perhaps you are struggling with loss and you are having a difficult time letting go and moving forward. I offer energy healing, psychic reading and also teach meditative, self-healing visualization techniques to assist with this process. Although you can not physically turn back the hands of time, go backwards and actually change your past, you do have the power to heal yourself and change how you feel about your past. I provide meditation, healing, reading and communication services to anybody, anywhere on the planet. If you or a human or animal you love are facing a health challenge or other potential stressful situation, I can help with that too. I don’t replace medical doctors or veterinarians. Instead, I see myself as an alternative healing option working alongside the medical profession. Because I am not a member of the medical field, I can not diagnose diseases or illness. I suggest ruling out and/or discovering any medical conditions before pursuing an alternative energy healing, reading or similar modality.

11.7.2012 – My Dog Won’t Eat

Swimming is a low impact form of exercise for dogs, as well as humans. It is sometimes used in physical therapy for dogs. Cute pups!

Today was a busy day. It was productive and fulfilling and included sessions with two new clients. Well in actuality, over a dozen new clients if you include all animals and humans involved!

Starting off the day, I did a long distance reading for an exuberant woman who was concerned about her dog’s loss of appetite. Her dog had gone through a number of periods of simply refusing to eat. Although he would sometimes eat later in the day and had gotten a clean bill of health from the veterinarian and doggie chiropractor, his people, were understandably still concerned. Stress, anxiety and fear and its effects on his body, as well as his chakras and energy system were the main issues. The dog’s mom is actively involved in his care. This includes, as previously mentioned chiropractic visits, which were introduced to help eliminate neck tension and seizures the dog had previously experienced. It is so great how many alternative healing methods are available now for our companion animals, as well as us humans!

PLEASE NOTE: If your companion animal has refused food, the first step is to rule out a medical cause. Not eating can be the sign of severe illness or that your pet has ingested something toxic or poisonous. Another possibility is a blockage or foreign body of some kind in their digestive system. A veterinarian can do a physical examination, blood tests and other medical interventions to determine if your companion animal is ill or needs further medical attention. Testing and exams, along with evaluating your pet’s previous medical history and any other current symptoms can help your vet draw conclusions. Not eating food or other changes in dietary or drinking habits is cause for alarm and it is recommended that you seek medical attention. Other symptoms that may or may not accompany the disinterest in food, include lethargy, depression, vomiting, diarrhea, foaming at the mouth, nervous panting or other signs of stress. If your veterinarian draws no conclusion from the test results, you may also wish to get a second opinion.

When your companion animal refuses to eat, it is time to see the veterinarian. Eat up, Fido!

Once a medical condition or illness is ruled out, you may wish to consider the following.

  • psychic reading
  • energy healing
  • animal communication
  • nutrition consulting
  • dietary evaluations
  • educational pet food shopping field trips
  • tips on how to read ingredients labels
  • animal massage and T-Touch
  • acupuncture for dogs and other animals
  • meditation for YOU because the calmer you are, the calmer your pets will be

10.23.2012 – Animal Photos * Meditation * House Cleansings

Just thought I would share some favorite warm and fuzzy animal photos!

Scroll down below the photos to read my thoughts for the day.

Do you have a favorite animal? My grandma’s favorite? Bears! I too love bears, but also tigers, dogs, cats, gorillas and just animals in general. I admittedly have a hard time choosing favorites. I find different animal species so fascinating. You could spend your entire life studying one type and still have more to learn!

One of the things I love about being a pet psychic, as well as a psychic reader for people is the connection with other souls. It is an experience unlike any other. Whether it is verbal or a telepathic communication, it is powerful and validating. I love talking about spirituality and communicating with other spirits.

There are spirits in and out of body. Us humans and animals are spiritual beings; souls. We have bodies. We are spirits or souls manifesting through physical bodies. There are also spirits or beings that don’t have bodies. They are not more powerful than those of us with bodies, although Hollywood movies and other media may have us believing differently. We may learn to fear spirits without bodies. I state again, they are not more powerful than us. In fact, it takes more energy and more information and thus more power to have, own, operate and maintain a body.

Just as there are people who are kind and people that are mean, there are spirits without bodies that are beneficial and those that are invasive and effect us adversely. Meditation, specifically the techniques of grounding and centering can help us to protect our space and be less influenced by outside energies, including beings without bodies that may be around us.

In addition to psychic reading, energy healing and animal communication or telepathy, I teach meditation techniques. I also offer house cleansings, which may include, “ghostbusting” if any non-beneficial spirits are present. These energetic cleansings can not only be for homes, but offices or entire buildings, apartment complexes or outdoor areas. These cleansings are energy healings. In addition to physical spaces, they can be given to any individual person, business, group, organization and even special events. If it exists it can receive an energy healing! These cleansings or healings can assist in changing energy. I believe healing is change and that all healing is self healing. I act as a catalyst to assist in moving, removing or letting go of non-beneficial energies, including spirits not in harmony with a particular environment.

If you are in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco or anywhere in California, the Pacific Northwest including Oregon and Washington, the Midwest, South, East Coast or anywhere in the United States or around the world, I can help. I can give energy healings, psychic readings, animal communication sessions and meditation instruction remotely. For more information, call or text me at 619-797-0705 or email sindi@apetpsychic.com.
