What is an Aura and More Interesting Answers

You may be familiar with the term, aura. You may even understand the word and what it is. I would like to share my perspective of the almighty aura!

An aura, in the way I am referring to it, is an energy field. All things have auras. An aura is the energy field around “a thing,” whether a person, animal, tree, house, car or any living thing or inanimate object.

Everything is energy. You, me, the ground you walk on, the air you breathe, the food you eat, your emotions, words, thoughts and absolutely everything is a form of energy. Physicists have scientifically proven this.

Just as everything else is energy, so is an aura, which emanates from the object it  surrounds. Auras that surround the bodies and energy systems of animals and humans contain a great deal of energy and information. There are seven main layers of an aura that I focus on during an aura reading with a human or animal. There are also seven main chakras, or energy information centers that are a part of an individual’s energy system. The layers of the aura relate to the chakras. Each chakra contains specific information and has a unique purpose. For more information on the chakra system I suggest the book, “Chakras: Key to Spiritual Opening”, by Mary Ellen Flora. However, before delving into that masterpiece of a book, I recommend reading Flora’s first book or ebook, “Meditation: Key to Spiritual Awakening.” After reading her meditation book, you may find it beneficial to practice the techniques in that book, as well as on the accompanying “Meditation: Key to Spiritual Awakening” CD or audio download before moving further through her series.

Pet Loss Support

Saying goodbye to a loved one, animal or human can be challenging, regardless of the situation. It can be a healing process that is ridden with shock and often overwhelming emotions. It can seem difficult to function during these times. It is important to remember that grieving is a process. Some days and moments are more excruciating than others.

To support you during your time of grief I offer animal communication sessions and psychic readings that give insight into what is going on with your departed friend. I also offer recorded, personalized guided meditations that incorporate animal communication. The meditation techniques that I share can help to release pain and uncomfortable emotions. Meditation and psychic readings can help validate that your companion still exists, as spirit. These sessions can also help remind you that you can communicate with the soul after it passes on, leaving behind the body that served as its vessel while on earth.

You are spirit. I am spirit. All humans and animals are spirit. Spirits in bodies. When the body dies the spirit continues. Spirit, soul, spiritual being are all words that mean the same thing. The important piece to acknowledge is that we are spirit. We are not our bodes. When living on earth, we have bodies. But again, we are not our bodies.

At the time of death, the soul leaves the physical plane and enters the spiritual realm. Depending on their journey, they may reincarnate into another body to continue their focused learning on earth. They also may take a break from life on earth and spend time in the non-physical spiritual plane.

I offer in-person pet loss support groups in the Oregon and Washington state areas, as well as other parts of the country that I travel to during the year. My remote, long distance services are available to anyone, anywhere. Whether you are seeking communication through a psychic reading or could benefit from meditation or energy healing, I am here to help you. Psychic means spirit, or of the soul. My psychic readings are soul to soul communication sessions. If you are interested in receiving a reading, healing, animal communication session or guided meditation, I am available. If you would like to be notified about my upcoming pet loss support groups let me know. I can be reached by phone and email.

What Does Psychic Mean?

waves at sunset

Meditation provides a way to get in touch with yourself and your own information.

If you talk to different people about any topic, you will get a variety of opinions. I have found this with any subject I research. This can make it difficult when you really, really, really want an answer! I always suggest to clients to trust their gut. If you have collected information from a variety of sources, sit with it all. Then get in touch with what rings true for you and discard the rest.

Meditation is a way to get more in touch with your own information. The type of meditation that I was blessed to learn at the ripe young age of 18 years old gave me tools. Meditative, visualization techniques to help me to get more in touch with me, my body and my own information.

Okay. So then, what does psychic mean?! To me it means, spirit or of the soul. We are all spirit. We are souls. Therefore we are all psychic. We all have the spiritual abilities to see or “read” energy, give and receive non-verbal, telepathic messages, feel energy and otherwise sense energy and have an awareness of the spiritual realm.

This was a fun day at the San Diego Humane Society. I got to hang out with some of their beautiful cats that were available for adoption. I love giving healings and readings to animals and people!

I have spent a lot of time developing my psychic muscle and reading energy, consciously telepathically communicating, giving people and animals energy healings and otherwise sensing energy. But you have these same gifts.

Think about experiences you have that validate this. Have you ever been able to tell when someone was lying to you? They were verbally saying one thing, but you knew it wasn’t true? Perhaps you thought about someone right before they called, emailed or texted you. When you first go into an office, home, restaurant or other establishment, are you aware of having a response? You may like it or not. Or like how you feel or not. These are just some examples of how we often unconsciously use our psychic or spiritual abilities in our everyday lives. It’s a fun thing to play with. The more you practice, the more consciously aware you will become of how you feel in different environments and around different people. Honor your feelings and practice being more consciously aware of when you are comfortable and uncomfortable.

As far as what being psychic means to you, I encourage you to spend time being quiet with yourself. Let go of other people’s opinions that you may have picked up throughout your life. Family, friends, religious figures, the media and other sources all have input to give that we often take on. We are all free to share our opinions. As we learn and grow, it is up to us to keep what is true for ourselves and let go of the rest. We all have our own truths. Meditation is the pathway within to find them.

Living Your Life

Earth.

Life on Earth can be many things. Joyous is one of the options.

There are so many things to do in this world. Everyday, in so many different areas of our lives, we put pressure on ourselves and allow others to apply pressure also. Expectations can cause stress, anxiety and fear. They can freeze us and keep us from living joyfully and truly living our lives. Other people’s expectations add to our own. While they may motivate us, they also invalidate us.

Whether verbally spoken or silently and perhaps passive aggressively given to us, expectations are seldom met. They are sometimes seemingly met and sometimes even exceeded. One thing that can lead to unmet expectations is unclear communication and the fact that we are each individuals.

We can use examples as simple as how to place the toilet paper on the roll. Do you like the paper over or under the roll? How about the infamous toothpaste question. Do you squeeze the tube from the bottom, the middle, the top? These are things that can lead to arguments, as opinions differ. In reality, who is to say what the “right” way is. I’m here to say… who cares!

toilet paper on rollThere are much more important things in this world than the flow of toilet paper and toothpaste! I would rather be happy and spread happiness than be anxiety ridden and share that anxiety. I feel that often in this physical human world, we are taught to blame others. We are taught to judge and with judgment often comes meanness. With meanness there is seldom joy and happiness. Even if being mean gives someone satisfaction and a feeling of power, those aren’t signs of being happy. A “feeling” of power is not actually power. It is the stroking of an ego.

My perception of ego may be different than some people’s. We all have an ego. We can grow it or diminish it. Ego isn’t a “bad” thing, it is simply ” a thing.” Something that we all have. Our ego is a collection of our stored pain. Invalidation, criticism, loneliness, heartache and physical, sexual, emotional and other types of abuse are all forms of pain. There are many ways to deal with our pain. One way is to simply to not deal with. To forget it’s there, ignore it, bury it deep underneath a smile or a frown and live our lives not acknowledging the hurts inside. Some people lash out at others instead of dealing with their pain. Others turn it on themselves, beating themselves up with little room for self-forgiveness. Do any of these behaviors sound familiar? Maybe you have some other ways of moving forward with the existence of pain. Keeping busy is a favorite way to avoid our pain in our fast moving, multi-tasking, accomplishment oriented human society.

girl relaxing on tree trunk contentI am here to tell you that there is another way to live. While we may all be able to find times when we have experienced all of these modes of dealing or not dealing with our pain, what would you say if I told you you can actually let it go? We can not change what has happened, but we can change our relation to past experiences and how they effect us. We can also release stored emotions and pain energy allowing us to be more neutral and less judgmental of ourselves and those around us. Instead of punishing ourselves and others for not being perfect or living up to those pesky, rigid expectations, we can learn. Every situation is an opportunity for learning. Giving ourselves and others room to learn allows for movement instead of stagnation. It creates space for love instead of instilling fear.

I know people and you probably do to, that use invalidation to control others. It is a way these individuals have learned to get others to do what they want. It is also a way to punish, intimidate and exert power over another. They may use a condescending tone or not verbally say anything at all. Instead they may communicate their judgement by sharing their opinion through telepathic thoughts, invading others with their energy, give a disapproving look or avoid interactions all together. Living in a highly judgmental society, we have all learned to judge. Because of this, it is safe to say, we have all done our share of judging at one time or another. Or many times and many others. 🙂

just do it nikeThe style of meditation that I practice and teach provides meditation techniques to help us to be more neutral and less judgmental of ourselves and others. Thank goodness!! These meditation techniques also help us to let go of energy we no longer want. Physicists agree that everything is energy. Absolutely everything! Our thoughts, emotions, expectations and judgments are all energy! Other people’s thoughts, opinions and expectations are also energy. Anyone’s energy, ours’ or others’, can effect us. But we can decide what energy we want to keep and what we want to let go of. There is freewill for each of us. Let others live their lives how they want to. You get to choose how YOU want to live yours. You do not need permission from anyone to be happy. As Beaverton, Oregon’s own Nike encourages us, “Just Do It!”

Psychic Readings

During a reading there is always physical space between us. This also assists with the energetic space.

During a psychic reading there is always physical space between us. This also assists with the energetic or spiritual space, which allows for clearer communication.

While, like with any word, you may find multiple definitions, psychic means, “of the soul” or “spirit.” This is the definition that best describes my relationship to the word and what I do. A psychic reading by me is a reading of the soul. It is a reading by me, as spirit. Me, the spiritual being.

Another way to describe what I do is in terms of energy. Even physicists agree that everything is energy. Our emotions, opinions, likes, dislikes, experiences and memories are all stored within us, as energy. Although our thoughts are also energy, I don’t claim to read minds. Instead, I read energy. So although I can tune into your thoughts, it is from a spiritual, instead of an intellectual perspective.

I don’t “figure out” what you are thinking, feeling or going through. I use my spiritual ability of clairvoyance to “see” what is going on. Clairvoyance is “clear seeing” or the ability to see clearly. It is our spiritual ability of seeing or “reading” energy. Clairvoyance is an ability that we all have an use, whether we acknowledge it as such or not. Other spiritual abilities that I have developed and use include my ability to communicate telepathically and feel energy with my hands. These are characteristics that we all have also. We don’t live in a world that, as a whole, validates or encourages these abilities. Because of this, we tend to explain these experiences as other things, such as coincidence, our imagination or they are simply left as unexplained weirdness or phenomena. They can also lead to fear for our bodies because spiritual or psychic experiences can be difficult to intellectually comprehend. Though our body and capable brains may try! Hollywood cinema has done a good job of attaching fear to spiritual abilities and psychic happenings through its presentation in scary movies. Writers, such as, Stephen King, have contributed here also.

While clairvoyance is seeing energy, telepathic communication is “hearing” energy. It is non-verbal, non-physically audible communication. While I “hear” words, I actually am “hearing” energy that I interpret into words. I speak English, so I interpret energy into English so that it makes sense to my body and I can then share the information with you. However, energy can be interpreted into any language.

Here I am giving Wyn a non-touch aura healing. It is an energy cleansing. It helps to cleanse your energy channels and chakras, which does impact the body and how it feels. I like to think of it, as a spiritual massage!

Here I am giving Wyn a non-touch aura healing. It is an energy cleansing. It helps to cleanse your energy channels and chakras, which does impact the body and how it feels. I like to think of it, as a spiritual massage!

In addition to seeing and hearing energy, I “feel” energy. I feel energy with my hands while I am giving someone an aura healing, female healing or head channel cleansing. I feel energy when I am doing any type of healing with my hands. Clairsentience is the ability to feel or sense others’ emotions or feelings. While I have this ability, clearer communication and interpretation occurs when I use my clairvoyance to determine what another is feeling. It allows for each to have their own space vs. merging, which can lead to overwhelm, confusion, irritation and fatigue.

Now days, I am most known for my work with animals. However, I started my reading, healing and communication work with people. It was my love of animals that motivated me to make them a formal part of my practice. I now work not only with pets, but also farm animals and wild animals in and out of captivity. I also read people with and without animals in their life. Although I don’t generally use the term, “medium” to describe myself, I do read the energy of and telepathically communicate with souls that have passed on. Yes. I see dead people.

If you are interested in my services, either in person or long distance, I can be reached by calling 619-797-0705 or by email at sindi@petpsychic.com. I also practice and teach meditation. Birth and Death

waves at sunset

Life is full of change, similar to the changes that occur each time a new set of waves flow on and off the sandy shore.

Today my friend’s father died at 5:45 AM. Today also happens to be my birthday. This is the day I was born, oh so many years ago. My friend and I will always remember the date, February 26, but for different reasons.

Birth and death are both transitional experiences. With birth, the soul transitions into the body and the earth plane. In death, the soul permanently leaves its particular body and transitions back into the spiritual realm.

dog with chin on stuffed animal

While we can look at physical, scientific and medical reasons why a body lives or dies, it is actually the soul that determines this difference. It is the soul and its energetic presence that gives the body life. It is the departure of this same being that creates the experience of death.

Adjusting to a new life, whether our own or an addition to our own, as with the birth of a child, takes time. Processing the occurance of death also takes time. It is important to allow our body the time to process, reflect and grieve. There are a number of emotions one might experience related to a death; grief, sadness, depression, anger, guilt.

Bodies feel. They experience pain, sadness, grief, as well as lighter emotions, such as joy.

Bodies feel. They experience pain, sadness, grief, as well as lighter emotions, such as joy.

Our reaction to each death experience may have similarities, but also differences. Depending on our relationship with the soul that has passed, the intensity of our emotional response may differ. If you are a close relative, friend or caregiver, for example. These particular roles may evoke different feelings than those of a casual acquaintance, Facebook friend or stranger. If you are both a family member and the caregiver, there will be a unique intensity all its own.

Caring for a loved one at the end of their life can be emotional, exhausting and overwhelming. Watching someone die or approach death can be stressful and painful, especially if suffering is involved. Because of these intense feelings their may be a sense of relief after they pass. This may be followed by guilt, due to judgment.

If we can allow our body its complete range of emotions without judgment, we can more easily move through the grieving process. Or any experience, for that matter. When we judge, fight, resist or deny our emotions, we can get stuck. This can interfere with us reaching a place of acceptance. It can take us longer to reach a place of peace with a death.

Saying goodbye to Ginger was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Dealing with death can be a challenge for those left living.

Saying goodbye to beautiful, loving Ginger was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Dealing with death can be a challenge for those left living. But we can do it! Allow the time and space for your healing. Be gentle and kind to yourself.

Because of my personal experiences with death and the benefit others can be to us during a time of loss, I offer help in this area. I work with both animals and people providing one on one and group grief counseling, energy healing, psychic reading and telepathic communication with the soul that has passed. Individual and group pet loss support and assistance with end of life decisions may also include guided meditation and other services.

If you or someone you know are struggling with loss, grief, pain, depression, stress, fear or anxiety related to death or any aspect of life’s many experiences, I can help! Through energy healing, psychic reading, talking and meditating, you can regain a more neutral, non-judgmental perspective of yourself, your emotions and others.

Long Distance Psychic Readings & Animal Communication

Although I am on the road, I am available to provide psychic readings, energy healings and animal communication sessions to anyone, anywhere. How can I do that? Read on!

IMG_20150203_182123289

On the road with my Rock! No matter where I go, there I am! I can read your aura, past lives and other energy regarding relationships, work, your animal friends or anything else that you may want feedback on.

Even physicists agree that everything is energy. Our thoughts, emotions, experiences, memories, all of these things are stored as energy. What I do is read, feel, hear and otherwise sense energy using my developed spiritual a.k.a. psychic abilities. There is no time or space for spirit and our spiritual abilities. So no matter where the energy seems to be physically, I can read it spiritually, psychically or energetically, depending on your word preference.

I am spirit, you are spirit, we are all spirit, spiritual beings, souls. Clairvoyance, or clear sight is a spiritual ability that I use to see or read energy during a psychic reading. Other abilities I use include telepathy or non-vocal, non-physically audible communication, as well as my abilites to feel and otherwise sense energy.

There is no time or space for spirit, so I can read, heal, communicate and otherwise tune into energy no matter where I am physically!

There is no time or space for spirit, so I can read, heal, communicate and otherwise tune into energy no matter where I am physically! No limits, except that I only speak English. So if your native tongue is another language, you may need an interpreter!

Because there is no time or space for spirit, there are no limits. When I tune in spiritually, I am not limited by the fact you are in a different city, state or country. I am able to do the reading and then obtain the same information, as if you were sitting in front of me.

Want to experience a long distance reading for yourself and/or your animal friends? The fastest way to reach me right now is by phone. Feel free to call me at 619-797-0705.

I will be back in Sedona at Sedona Pet Supply with Ace here on Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21. Maybe I'll see you there!

Bragging Rights

kid butterfly

Before children learn the “rules,” to be modest and downplay their strengths and favored attributes, they neutrally and joyfully remark about themselves. Instead of turning it down, let’s turn it up! Learn from kids and be proud of yourself. There is only one YOU!!!

A very insightful friend of mine said something to me that I wanted to share. She said that one thing she doesn’t like about our society is that we are taught not to be boastful, but that it is encouraged to have self-esteem. She was commenting on how we, as people learn to not accept compliments, but instead, disagree with the compliment giver. Here’s an example. If the compliment is, “You’re pretty,” then the trained response may be, “No. I’m not.” We may later learn the polite response is, simply to say, “thank you.” How do you feel when you respond by acknowledging it with a thank you? How do you feel if you respond by invalidating the compliment giver and disagreeing with their complimentary view of you?

We also may learn to apologize for our strengths and if we mention something we are confident about, we, ourselves may feel uncomfortable about this, or others may label us as being egotistical or arrogant. Perhaps there is a belief that if we own one of our gifts are strengths then we are saying others are not as strong in this area.

So what is okay and what is not okay? Are we only allowed to have silent confidence? If we share with others something about ourselves we are excited about, do we risk certain judgment, criticism and less than pleasant responses?

dr seuss

I may be able to admit that I am a good writer, but Dr. Seuss is my favorite writer! And Christopher Durang is my favorite playwright. 🙂

Here is another example. I am a good writer. I think I am a good writer. I have been told throughout my life that I am a good writer. At this point in my life, after years of practice, successful writing projects, becoming a published writer and receiving payment for some of my writing, I feel confident that I not only think I am a good writer, but I am in fact a good writer. I am not a perfect writer, however and I have never claimed to be perfect. Not everyone may like my style of writing, but I am still a skilled writer. Me knowing and stating that I am a good writer does not take anything away from anyone else’s writing abilities. Yet often, when we excel in an area, whether it is a natural attribute or a learned skill, we attract admirers and haters. Some people will love, appreciate and admire our strengths while others will be competitive and possibly feel that it threatens them, effects them in a non-beneficial way, makes them look bad or takes something away for them. Often it can trigger insecurity in someone.

We all have insecurities. We all have strengths and weaknesses. One of my strengths is writing. However, there are plenty of things that are not strengths. I do not know how to fix my broken car, change a car’s oil, do complex mathematical equations, rock climb, fly an airplane, cut a person’s hair, play guitar, sew, play cribbage, work as a barista, scuba dive and you will never see me skydive! Okay. So never say never, but performing risky stunts, like jumping out of a plane isn’t something I gravitate towards.

Okay. So I came clean with you and admitted that I believe I am a good writer. Now it’s your turn. Think of at least one of your strengths and validate it. Take a deep breath and let go of anything that says this is not a strength. Let go of invalidation, doubt and any interference to you admitting, owning and appreciating this strength. It is a gift you have and its okay to own it and let the world see it. Shine baby shine!

Oh and just to share… here’s a link to an article I wrote for San Diego Pets Magazine, which was recently bought by the San Diego Humane Society. A new version of the magazine will be out later this year. The Little Dogs’ Big Problem. By, Sindi Somers.

Me and my Rock.

Me and my Rock. My Chi-ROCK-Wah! 😉

If you want help letting go of invalidation, criticism and anything else that may be interfering with your happiness and your ability to validate your gifts, I can help. With either a one-on-one private session, energy healing or perhaps learning some of the life changing meditation techniques that I practice and teach, I can help with your process.
